South Africa – Cape Town

2002 – Umphako Bakery School

Street children have no roof over their heads and usually nothing to eat. This daily struggle for survival is a bitter reality for many young people in Cape Town.

“Brot gegen Not” has therefore decided to support a special project financially. “Ons Plek” or “A Place for us!” is what the girls call the safe-house in which they are accommodated. Here they receive psychological care, receive schooling and learn, among other things, how to make baked goods.

All of this is designed to help them regain their place in society when they leave home between the ages of 18 and 21.
