Romania – Timisoara

2004 – Timisoara

In October 2004, Brot gegen Not set up a training bakery in Timisoara, Romania.

Timisoara has about 320,000 inhabitants and is located in the west of the country. In 1994, the “Children’s Future” (Rudolf Walther Foundation) built a children’s village here to alleviate the catastrophic living conditions of the neglected children from the Ceaucescu regime. Around 165 children between the ages of 3 and 18 have found a new home here. There is a kindergarten, a school and a training center where pre-employment courses are offered.

The “Brot gegen Not” training bakery was easily integrated into the existing structure of the children’s village. In addition to a deck oven, a kneading machine, a roll press, a dough sheeter, a proofing cabinet, refrigerators, work tables, baking scales and all the small items needed to run a bakery were made available by the “Brot gegen Not” foundation. In addition to the training opportunity, which opens up prospects for the future for interested young people, the bakery supplies the children’s village with fresh bread and thus enriches the menu with the greater variety of bread types that are offered.
